CraftAdapt: Could we still use it?

The kick-off meeting of our new Erasmus+ project CraftAdapt took place – atypically – in virtual form on 3 December 2024. Since COVID, we have always held these important first meetings in person.

But there were good reasons for this format: firstly, it saved us the emissions associated with travelling, and secondly, it was easier for everyone involved not to have to travel, especially in the busy pre-Christmas period.

Getting to know each other personally will now have to wait until the next meeting in spring 2025, but all the participants at the meeting had prepared very well and so we have at least internalised the topic of our project and the tasks ahead of us very well.

This project combines several very topical issues: the prevention of waste, its reuse and the modernisation of vocational training. At the same time, we want this project to contribute to increasing the interest of young people – especially those from disadvantaged groups – in economic independence.

BRIDGE: first project meeting

The project partners from Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Cyprus met for the first time in person in Schwerin in autumn to launch the new joint Erasmus+ project BRIDGE.

After getting to know each other, we got down to the details of the project: we discussed the individual planned project phases and their results and set the most important deadlines.

After the lunch break, we then took an in-depth look at digital skills and the needs of our target groups in this regard in a first workshop.

All participants went home very satisfied and confident.

VETDesign: Kick-off in Schwerin

On 29.10.2024, the representatives of the five partner organisations of the new Erasmus+ project VETDesign met for the first time in Schwerin.

After getting to know each other, we immediately got down to work: the first tasks were discussed and a timetable for the entire 24-month project was agreed.

The first project workshop involved intensive discussions and valuable personal experience with the elements of design thinking.

All participants were impressed by the constructive and committed atmosphere of the meeting and are now motivated to get down to the actual work. Our extensive work programme also includes the involvement of vocational schools from the participating countries. One of the highlights will be the three-day seminar for vocational school teachers in Greece in spring 2026, where our project results will be communicated and tested in practice.

DIGIBLEND: Time to say Goodbye

Although it feels like we have just started our DIGIBLEND project, we met for the last time in this composition on 25 and 26 April in Konya, Turkey.

A large part of our work is done. With the games Infinity and DigiUP, we have already achieved what we set out to do: use games to measure and improve the digital skills of older people.

Before we present these two games at an event in Stralsund on 18 July 2024, there is still much to do. Together, we will record our experiences and findings from the work on the two games in guidelines that will make life easier for future users or further developers of the games.

Of course, we also talked about our collaboration in general and diligently exchanged ideas for future new projects.

DIGIBLEND: play with me!

On 19 and 20 September, the project partners of the Erasmus+ project DIGIBLEND met in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, to discuss the next tasks. After we have already developed the game “Infinity.net” to capture basic digital skills, we are now working on a new game (still without a name) that will be the basis for hybrid learning.

Full of excitement, we tried out the prototype together for the first time and gained important experience that is now flowing into further development. The next tests with the staff of the partner organisations are planned for November, before our target group – older adults – can be confronted with the game and the learning materials in January 2024.

Of course, there was also the opportunity for an interesting and humorous guided tour of the city and a joint dinner in this lively and, at the same time, historical city.

AGEADAPT: Last project meeting in Cádiz

Time flies by

On September 14th, the partner of the Erasmus+ project AGEADAPT met for the fifth and last time within this project. In Cádiz/Spain, we reviewed all our work and discussed how to disseminate the results. We also got the chance to collect several ideas for a follow-up project.
Age management is becoming increasingly popular in smaller and medium companies (SMEs), but many knowledge gaps remain. Our project results on https://ageadapt.eu can help managers by giving them practical guidelines and showing best practices they might implement.
We took the idea a step further and created some micro-learning videos and texts that can help broaden your knowledge of helpful digital tools.

After two years of intensive teamwork, all project partners were sad that we needed to say goodbye – at least for now. Many thanks to Javier for being such a great host. Cádiz, it’s people and especially the food are amazing!

DIGIBLEND: project meeting in Riga

We met in the Latvian capital Riga for the third project meeting of our Erasmus+ project DIGIBLEND. After a good year of project running time, there were the first concrete results to discuss (and celebrate): we have developed a board game with infinity.net, with which we can determine the digital knowledge of older adults in a playful way.

At the same time, the game serves as a methodological example for a game-based assessment. Outside of the human resources sector, there are not so many applications of this yet, so we are proud to have entered new territory together. As we have already discovered, the game with its rules and elements can be used quite easily for other purposes, for example, in our language training.
The results and experiences of this first project year will now benefit us in the coming months: in the development of a game-based hybrid training of basic digital skills.
In two workshops, we have already gathered the first ideas for this and determined how we plan the next steps. Three different drafts are competing to become the basis for the final version.
Of course, there was also time again for professional exchange and for visiting this magnificent Hanseatic city. Many thanks to our hosts from ALTUM!

DIGISCHOOL: second training activity in San Sebastián

On January 24th, 25th and 26th, the second Learning, Teaching and Training Activity within the DIGISCHOOL project occurred in the Basque Country, Spain. The training was held in the facilities of UGLE in Zumarraga and Nazaret Eskola in San Sebastian. Throughout the three days of training, 12 attendees from Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Spain were able to take a tour of how today’s teachers must adapt to the new formats of the classes and how they can make use of digital tools to, among other things, search and generate content for their subjects, deliver the classes and evaluate the students and assess their progress.

The training ended with a practical exercise in which the participants developed the material for their subjects using the tools they had learned during the training days so that they could put what they had learned into practice quickly on their return.

In addition, the programme also left room for cultural exchange among the participants, who were able to take part in a guided tour of the Santa María de la Antigua hermitage in Zumarraga, known as “the cathedral of the hermitage”, as well as to the cider museum in Astigarraga, with a subsequent tasting of local gastronomy.”

DIGISCHOOL: third project meeting in Durango

Shortly before Christmas, the partners in the DIGISCHOOL project met in Durango/Basque Country for the third project meeting. The last tasks for the completion of our first project results – a collection of best practices as well as a portfolio of tested and useful digital tools for use in the classroom – were coordinated. In two creative workshops we then worked on the next stage of the project: short videos that will illustrate and facilitate the use of selected tools in everyday life at the vocational school.

We also prepared the next workshop for vocational teachers from Spain, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic, which will also take place in the Basque Country at the end of January.

It was two intensive, busy days with a very committed team. Many thanks to our hosts from HETEL!

growMET: final project meeting in Ljubljana

“Who turned the clock?”: our project is already on the home stretch, although we share the feeling that we have only just started. The final project meeting in pre-Christmas Ljubljana/Slovenia was, therefore, not only marked by pride in what we had achieved together but also by some melancholy.

After a difficult project start in March 2021 due to the COVID pandemic, the project partners from Slovenia, Italy, Romania, the Basque Country and Germany have set to work with great commitment to translating the theoretical approaches of growth mindset into educational practice.

Materials and tools for teachers, students and parents were created. In the remaining months, our experiences with digital learning and the results of two workshops will be summarised and incorporated into a model for digital teaching and learning.
